I never draw backgrounds but I tell myself I can if I really need to. Lately I've been wondering if I'm lying to myself so I took the challenge. I learned I have a lot to learn when it comes to scenery however I am pleased with the turnout. I love those fairy tale-esque hidden cottages in the woods so I thought I'd try for that vibe. So here it is...
*EDIT* OK people I hear you loud and clear..water is now darker! haha..I also had originally meant to add some fog in the pic so I added that as well..
The house turned out really good, in my opinion. I've been in the fairy-tale crazy lately, so I've seen my fair share of them. I like how you even have the light coming through the trees. People always seem to forget that when doing backgrounds of forests.
Oh, and the little fuzzy creatures are adorable.

in all my life, i have seen three types of people: the trees, the weeds, and the wildflowers
it looks nice, i guess that the most difficult is to draw the depth of the forest i suck at doing backgrounds, i'll have to do like u and challenge myself to see what can i do
nice colors btw

Ladies! Will you please shut it? Listen to me. Yes, I lied to you. No, I don\'t love you. Yes, of course it makes you look fat. I\'ve never been to Brussels. It is pronounced \"egregious\". By the way, no, I\'ve never met Pizzaro, but I love his pies...
My first thoughts on this were, "Aww, how cute!" I love little cottages. I can't help but think, though, that the outline on the people should be a little darker. The tree behind them has a dark outline whereas they, directly in front of it, have quite a light one. Maybe it's just me, but I think they look a little odd and out of place. In any case, well done. I love the little details like the bird, and the light coming through the trees and the river with the rocks in. They're things that, if I was doing this, I'd never think to put in, but they kind of add effect.

My name is old. I don't care much for My Chemical Romance anymore but I'd rather not make a new account.
the trees and flowers are great and the cottage has an interesting syle
however the water seems distracting and out of place and the characters don't quite feel part of the scene, their shadow's seem odd with the path texture, the lighting for them just seems odd too. Maybe that's just me. Oh, and the moss texture on the house seems too out of place as well. I think it's the amount of texture with then the flat characters, alienates them for me.
You should definitely do more backgrounds. Yours are very interesting, and I'm interested to see what you will do with them.
ps. I love cottages too, I'm working on animation in a similar setting.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
